Less than twenty minutes away from Mariemont Inn on the banks of the Ohio River is the Riverbend Music Center and Coney Island. These two attractions are right next to each other and offer a variety of entertainment options for the entire family.
The Riverbend Music Center is a beautiful outdoor amphitheater that can accommodate up to 20,500 people. Initially, the amphitheater was built for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra because they needed an outdoor venue for performances during the summer months. Today, the Symphony Subsidiary manages Riverbend together with Music and Event Management Incorporated.
Riverbend plays an integral role in the Cincinnati concert industry and has hosted notable music festivals and artists, including Jimmy Buffett, Lollapalooza, Projekt Revolution, and The Vans Warped Tour.
At Riverbend, you’ll also find the PNC Pavilion, a venue with 4,100 seats that opened in 2008. If you head over to Live Nation, you will see all the upcoming shows at Riverbend and the PNC Pavilion.
Next to Riverbend is Coney Island, an amusement and water park that first came into existence in the 1800s. The Sunlite Water Adventure water park is a favorite among locals as the home to the world’s largest recirculating pool and erupting hydro storm. Another popular attraction is the paddle boats that people can take out on a little lake next to Kellogg Avenue.
Coney Island has a practical layout and beautiful scenery. Its proximity to the Ohio River is also one of its many visual perks. Coney Island is one of the country’s most historic water and amusement parks and is worth visiting.
